November 2025 Update
We’re pleased to share an update for our valued community groups and organisations on how they will be supported throughout our redevelopment and provide an overview on our upcoming Special General Meeting.
Events to Continue
Following our Development Application approval in August, a number of community groups and organisations have asked how the redevelopment will impact their group's use of our facilities.
We take great pride in providing a space for local community groups to connect and thrive and we want to assure all 30+ organisations that use our club facilities that their meetings and activities will be supported to continue with minimum disruption with no need to relocate.
In the coming months, we will reach out to each group personally to reiterate our ongoing support, ensure we understand their future needs, and share how the new facilities will be of benefit. As we near completion, we will also coordinate with everyone to ensure a smooth transition into our fantastic new spaces.

Member Vote at Special General Meeting
The Club has yesterday distributed to all eligible members notification that the Club will hold a Special General Meeting (SGM) on Thursday 11th December at 6.30pm to allow members to vote on the redevelopment.
Every eligible club member will receive a ‘Notice of Meeting’ and an ‘Information Memorandum’ and be invited to an upcoming Information Session if they are interested in learning more about the redevelopment.
Although it was previously anticipated that the SGM would occur in early 2026, the club received further legal advice recommending that we continue to progress the required process this year, prior to the busy school holiday period.
To ensure members are fully informed ahead of this important meeting, the Redevelopment Team will hold two Information Sessions in the lead up to the vote. Members are encouraged to attend on one, or both, of the following dates:
- Tuesday 2nd December at 6.30pm
- Saturday 6th December at 2.30pm
To assist with catering, members interested in attending an information session are encouraged to RVSP by clicking here
Special General Meeting Overview
We have provided below an excerpt from our Redevelopment Frequently Asked Questions Resource for member’s information relating to the upcoming vote:
Why does a vote need to occur? Even though the club will retain 100% ownership of all of its current land as well as the proposed future buildings, the definition of “dispose” under the Registered Clubs Act 1976, includes to “lease or license the property”. This means that the club must obtain approval from its members to build a new club and a new retirement village. This is due to the proposed retirement village apartments being leased under the Retirement Villages Act, while still being owned by the club.
What will happen at the Special General Meeting? Members will be asked to vote whether the Club’s Land, which is currently core property of the Club, can become non-core property of the Club for the duration of the development. At the completion of the development, the property occupied by the new club premises will be returned to being core property.
Why is it important for members to attend the SGM? Club Members’ support is crucial to secure the future of the club. By acting now, the Club can fund the project itself without the need to sell its land (as many other clubs have done), transferring profit and control of the land to developers or amalgamating with other out-of-the-area clubs and by doing so, giving up local control. The proposed redevelopment represents an essential step forward for the Club, paving the way for enhanced facilities, diversified revenue and financially securing it for future generations.
Who can vote at the SGM? In accordance with the Club’s Constitution, only members in attendance at the Special General Meeting at the Forestville RSL Club will be eligible to vote on this significant proposal.
