May 2025 Update
It’s been a busy month and we’d like to thank our many members and local community who were able to overcome inclement weather to join us to commemorate ANZAC Day 2025. Since our last update we’ve also held our AGM, another Redevelopment Update for our members, run a Retirement Living Information Session and continued to work on finetuning our DA design as outlined below.
Development Application (DA) Update
The Club’s Redevelopment Team including our architect and project manager have been finalising a number of further design refinements to support us in the final phase of the DA approval process. It is expected that the updated design will be submitted to Council in the next few weeks and will be published on the Council’s website. As we have done previously when this update has been submitted and published by the Council we will share the link with our members for their information.
An Introduction to Retirement Living Information Session
Last week we ran a Retirement Living Communities Information Session for members interested in learning more about how retirement communities work and the different models of seniors living. Thank you to those people who took time out of their week to attend. There was plenty of positive feedback on the session and great questions asked by attendees, many of whom indicated they are looking forward to future updates on Garraway, the proposed retirement community at Forestville. We have included below some of the reasons people typically choose to move to retirement villages shared by our seniors living consultants from Chanje Partners
· Social Connection and Community
5 times more socially active
Twice as likely to catch up with family/friends
41% happier overall
· Enhanced Independence and Health
Increases length of time residents remain physically and mentally independent
Typically delays move to aged care facility by about 5 years
Reduced depression and loneliness
· Convenient and Maintenance-Free Living
90% retirement village residents choose this option for ease/simplicity
· Security and peace of mind
· Lifestyle and amenities
Redevelopment Information Session
To ensure our members continue to remain abreast of the Redevelopment, we also recently ran another Redevelopment Information Session at the end of April following our AGM. As we did in previous update sessions in December last year and February this year attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the redevelopment.
As always, we encourage our members and the local community to contact us with any questions via www.heartofforestville.com.au .
We look forward to keeping you updated on our progress in the coming months and years ahead.
Regards,
Tony Mooney, President and Ian Thomson, CEO
